The T.D.E.C. has changed their policy on spraying aquatic herbicides. Applicators can now get a general permit that covers all the areas they are treating as long is it is not over 80 acres. They are also no longer required to post warning signs or let T.D.E.C. know were they will be applying herbicides. I can not believe the State is letting something like this be left up to the honor system for the applicators and lakeshore owners. How are Private lakeshore owners even allowed to make the decision to treat the lake with herbicides? Shouldn't someone from the state at least come out and approve that it is needed before they are allowed to dump unneeded herbicides in the water.
